St. Thomas
? - 53? CE

St Thomas the Apostle, also known as the Twin, made a name for himself as “doubting Thomas.”
Thomas does not want Jesus to go to Judaea where he fears Jesus will be stoned and killed, saying, “Let us also go, that we may die with him.” Although the great show of faith here, Thomas also doubts the apostles understand Jesus’s plans, though Jesus claims Thomas does. Then, when Jesus is taken and will be crucified, Thomas flees.
Unlike some of the apostles who are present at Jesus’s Resurrection, Thomas demands proof of the holes in his hands that he was crucified and brought back to life. Jesus gives Thomas his hands and lets them be touched, reaffirming Thomas’s faith and leading Thomas to be the first to claim Jesus as a divine God figure.
